JSD is in development, and here is what is coming
JSD (Jailer System Detention) is a Discord moderation bot we are building in public. It is not released yet, but the foundation is moving. Here is what it does and where it is headed.
A quick, honest update: JSD (Jailer System Detention) is in active development and it is not publicly released yet. There is no bot to invite today, and that is intentional. We are building in public rather than launching something half-finished. This is our first post, so it is part intro, part roadmap.
What JSD does
JSD is a Discord moderation bot for temporary member detention. The core loop is simple:
- Jail. A moderator detains a member for a set duration. Roles are snapshotted and stripped, and the member is confined to jail-only channels.
- Release. When the clock hits zero (or staff clears the case early), the member is released automatically and their roles are restored.
- Appeals. Detained members get a structured appeal process, so moderation is not a one-way door.
- Audit log. Every detention, release, and appeal action is recorded for staff.
How it is built
JSD runs as a standalone bot with its own infrastructure. It is not hosted on a third-party bot platform. That means uptime, data, and configuration are fully under our control, and the audit trail stays inside our own systems.
The full stack is open and boring on purpose: a TypeScript bot, a Turso (libSQL) database, and a Next.js web platform. We will cover the details as the pieces ship.
What we are working on now
Right now the focus is feature parity with the jail bots people already rely on, as the v1 foundation:
- Jail / release with role snapshot and restoration
- Jail voting
- Appeal tickets
- Mod log
- AutoMod-triggered auto-jail
The goal of this phase is simple: the everyday moderation flows need to work well before we start adding anything clever.
Where JSD will differ, later
The things that make JSD interesting come after v1. Here is the honest list of what we are aiming for, in rough order:
- A full web dashboard. Not just Discord commands. Members see their own cases; server owners get real controls on the web.
- Structured appeal review. Appeals with staff notes and a clear review flow, instead of a private channel free-for-all.
- Escalating jail durations. Durations that grow based on a member's past detention history.
- Report-based auto-jail. Automation triggered by reports, with abuse protection so it cannot be weaponized against members.
- Multi-language support. Moderation that does not assume everyone moderates in English.
None of these are shipped. They are targets, not promises with dates.
Roadmap, framed honestly
- v1. Core bot. Jail/release, appeals, mod log, AutoMod auto-jail, audit trail. The feature-parity foundation above.
- v2. Dashboard and differentiators. The web console, structured appeals, escalation, auto-jail with abuse protection.
- v3. Billing tiers, multi-language, integrations. Paid tiers per server, i18n, and integrations with the tools servers already use.
We are not putting dates on these. Schedules slip; quality is the only thing worth holding the line on.
Follow along
The best way to keep up is the support server. Updates land there first, and once early access exists, that is where we will talk about it. You can join at the /jsd-support link on the homepage footer.
The site below the fold (features, docs, status) describes where JSD is headed, but treat it as the target, not the current state. We will keep this feed honest about what actually ships.
Thanks for reading along while we build.
