Starting Over (Rework)
How to reset JSD's configuration and start fresh.
1 min readTools
If something went wrong with the setup, or you want to completely reconfigure JSD, the /rework-jsd command lets you start fresh.
What rework does
Running /rework-jsd (admin only):
- Deletes JSD-created categories: all categories and channels JSD built are removed
- Deletes JSD-created roles: the jail role and any other roles JSD created
- Clears guild config: all settings (roles, channels, timezone, DM template) are wiped
- Leaves case history intact: past cases are preserved for audit purposes
What is NOT affected
- Case history: all past jail, release, and appeal records remain in the database
- Channels and roles you created yourself: these are only unlinked from JSD, not deleted
- Member data: no member information is removed
When to use rework
- Setup went wrong and you need to start over
- You want to change the jail role or mod role
- Channel structure is broken and re-running
/setupdoes not fix it - You are migrating to a new server configuration
How to rework
- Run
/rework-jsdas an administrator - Confirm the action in the confirmation prompt
- JSD deletes its created resources and clears config
- Run
/setupto configure the server again
After rework
Once rework is complete:
- Run
/setupto go through the wizard again - Choose new roles, channels, timezone, and DM template
- Use Quick setup if you want the defaults
- Test with a willing staff member to verify everything works
Important notes
- Rework is irreversible for the created resources (categories, channels, roles)
- Case history is preserved, so you can still look up past cases
- The bot does not need to be restarted after rework
- Admins only; jail mods cannot run this command
